An Open Letter to the BBC

Dear Auntie,

Thank you for your utterly fair and balanced coverage of the massacre going on in Iraq at the present time.

I find it unceasingly annoying that you feel the need to continuously remind me that Mr Omaar (GIVE HIM A MEDAL!) is having his broadcasts monitored and censored by the Iraqis. Could you also please tell your viewers with the same annoying regularity that your "embedded" journalists and other correspondents are also being censored and restricted by the US/UK military for reasons of "operational security". And I do mean appending it to every report, otherwise how can you even claim that you're impartial?

The whole thing is obviously a joke - compared to the US media you guys are Saints, but when we're talking about the Golgotha then it's not saying much. I'm not asking for much, just that you actually act a little more impartially rather than just bleating on about it... I'm not asking you to give equal coverage to US POWs that you give Iraq POWs, or even to say that the camps in Cuba are the Heir to the Throne of the Kingdom of Geneva Convention Violations - or even to show viewers the bloody end to their taxes. All I'm asking is that you stop telling me that Ragee is being monitored by the Iraqis - I KNOW HE IS AND SO DOES THE REST OF YOUR AUDIENCE. Forgive me for eShouting but I had to get that off my chest, seriously guys, you can't claim to be impartial when any mortal human within earshot of a TV who has access to the Internet and half a brain knows that you're basically part of the Machine.

How does it feel?

yours faithfully,
